ABOUT ME
Welcome to Mindfulness Life Coaching! A little bit about me: I have a Master's Degree in Transpersonal Psychology and a Master's Degree in Education. I am also a certified yoga teacher and have been practicing meditation for over fifteen years. I lived, worked and studied under my spiritual teacher, Patrick Sweeney, at his retreat center for 8 years in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. As a Life Coach I feel that my experience of living in retreat, plus my 20 plus years of exploration of yoga and meditation, and my discipleship to a genuine lineage teacher is unique. I take an integral approach and use my knowledge of psychology and multiple modalities for healing (Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectial Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Psychosynthesis, 12-step programs, etc.) to tailor my coaching to each individual. I have been studying human psychology and culture independently for over ten years. I have an understanding of learning styles and multiple intelligences, as well as experience and knowledge of issues around depression and anxiety. I have experience using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which uses mindfulness for emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
My goal is to help people move through life transitions, improve their communication skills, find more gentleness and compassion for themselves, and discover their values and purpose.
I help my clients by creating a safe, compassionate space for them to explore and overcome their obstacles and difficulties as well as face their fears to create a life they can love. I try to help them see that they do not need to seek outside themselves for contentment or happiness, but that it already exists within them. I help people connect to their heart of longing to be whole and their desire to help themselves and others in difficult times. Mindfulness is a large component of my style and I use many different mindfulness techniques to help people work with their thoughts and emotions. I take an integral view of personal development, incorporating everything from exercise, diet, vocation, relationships and other aspects of life in order to help people see how they can grow into their best selves.
